Brian Junkins, who runs and owns Friends Marketplace in Orleans, Massachusetts, is the villain of my story. He did nothing illegal; he bought the building my mother and I had been living in for 7 years, and simply did not want us as tenants. He never told us why.

 

We tried to explain the reason we couldn’t leave when he’d have preferred was, and we had no place to go. That my mother and I are both physically disabled, on low income, and simply couldn’t afford anywhere else. The waiting lists were years long, and he was going to have us out by my mother’s birthday: October 1^st, 2023.

 

We told him repeatedly. I have reason to believe he thought we were exaggerating.

 

What I want all of you-prospective tourists of Cape Cod-to know is not to give your money to a villain straight out of a Charles Dickens Novel. Mr. Junkins was presented with a pair of disabled less fortunate low-income women with nowhere to go. He followed through and kicked them to the curb. I really don’t care what his reasons were, because at the end of the day, I was homeless, and so were my mother and our chinchilla, Wilson.

 

And it was Brian Junkins’ decisions and actions that led to that outcome.

He is a horrible human being. Objectively.
